GO BUS COMPLETES PURCHASE OF CHRISTCHURCH BUS SERVICES
Go Bus Transport has today completed the purchase of Christchurch Bus Services
(CBS), taking full possession of the business from 1 December 2010.
Go Bus Commercial Director, Craig Worth, said that he was pleased to have
finally completed the transaction and was looking forward to the challenges ahead
to improve the performance of the business and lift the standard of the fleet.
“We are very much aware of the vehicle issues experienced over the last couple
of weeks and the frustration from passengers who have had to put up with sub
standard buses and missed trips. We have a large team of experienced workshop
and operations staff already in place and will be working extremely hard over the
coming weeks to restore faith in the services provided.”
Go Bus had previously taken control of the contract for delivery of the 26 new
buses ordered by CBS which had been delayed due to flooding in China. All but
one of these vehicles are now in Christchurch and are being deployed for service
as quickly as possible this week.
Craig Worth said “It was vital to get these vehicles on the road as quickly as
possible so we took on that responsibility some time ago and have been doing
everything we can to ensure the vehicles arrived in the country and were then
readied for service. We have already got 10 of the new buses on the road ahead
of our takeover of the business and expect to have all 25 new buses fully
operational by the end of the week. The last of the 26 buses ordered will not be
here until the end of the month due to accident damage in transit, but this will
not impact services.”
As part of the integration of the business Go Bus will also be implementing its
standard operating systems and processes which include computerised
monitoring of all vehicle movements, service schedules, COF’s and defects, to
ensure the fleet quality is maintained at all times.
“We will be monitoring the fleet very closely and doing a lot of work in
conjunction with the existing team to understand why missed trips in particular
have been occurring, so that we can remedy any problems and deliver a reliable
service at all times.” Mr Worth said.
Go Bus Transport operates a fleet of over 650 vehicles and employs over 700 staff in the
North Island of New Zealand. Go Bus specialises in Urban, School, Charter, Special Events
and currently operates the Urban bus services in Hamilton, Tauranga and Napier Hastings.
Go Bus is an accredited AS/NZS ISO9001:2008 organisation.
